Whether you look at property ads, architecture competitions or social media, the eye soon notices something. The images are somehow beautiful, yet astonishingly similar. The sun always shines from the right angle, the grass is extraordinarily green, the trees are perfect, people smile, the sky is dramatic and everything feels somehow… familiar.
What everyone likes, AI repeats
Most artificial-intelligence models have learned from billions of images. Their goal is not to create something entirely new, but to predict which image people like most. When millions of times it has turned out that warm evening light is preferred to a grey autumn day, AI starts using that lighting again and again. When people prefer lush greenery, AI adds it to almost every image. So different projects, different countries and even different authors gradually start to resemble one another.
It is paradoxical. AI should offer unlimited possibilities, yet in practice it tends to produce ever more similar images. When thousands of people use the same models and the same methods, a new visual standard forms. You could even call it an AI style.
When a project loses its character
In professional exterior 3D visualisation this problem is bigger than it first appears. When every image looks the same, the project’s character disappears. The architect sought a solution that would stand out from its surroundings, but the visualisation makes it look like dozens of others. Light, colours, trees, people and even the sky start to repeat, whether the house is in Estonia, Spain or Canada.
We are often asked why we don’t simply let AI make images “prettier”. The honest answer is that sometimes we do. AI can help add details, fix a texture or speed up the workflow. But when AI starts deciding the whole mood of the image, what made that specific project special disappears very quickly.
Every project its own face
The aim of good visualisation is not to make every project beautiful. The aim is to show every project as it will actually be. Some houses belong in a misty autumn morning, others in midday sun, others still in rainy weather. When every project ends up with the same golden sunset, the problem is no longer image quality. The problem is that everything starts speaking exactly the same visual language.
AI is excellent at making images everyone likes. But good architecture exists so that every project has its own face.
